Community trash pick-up days are Tuesday and Friday and trash may be set out after 6:00 p.m. the prior evening. Trash must be set out in rigid (plastic or metal) containers (no plastic bags). Each resident receives two bulk trash pick-ups each year.  Owners and residents may contact HVCA's trash hauler, Potomac Disposal, directly to arrange for a bulk trash pick-up at (301) 294-9700.  The following materials may not be included in bulk trash or regular trash pick-ups:

 

  • Any recyclable materials, including appliances, metal and cardboard

  • Construction debris, railroad ties and tires

  • Carpet that is not cut into 3 foot rolls

  • Large furniture (such as a wall unit) that is not broken down into smaller pieces 

  • Chemicals & paint (dried latex excluded)

  • An unreasonable quantity of materials

  • Sleeper sofas (due to metal parts) require an additional removal charge of $40

 

 Hazardous household waste (paint, chemicals, etc.) must not be placed in your trash. Montgomery County Solid Waste has hazardous waste collection sites.
